Calling all music lovers, the Martha’s Vineyard Concert Series is well underway! If you’re headed to the Island this summer make sure you check out their lineup–expect incredible shows by world class talent. The annual concert series was established in 2016 and since then has brought one of music’s best and brightest to intimate venue across the Island. David Sedaris, Paula Poundstone, Deer Tick, the Capitol Steps and many other big names have graced the stages of our local small spaces over the years. What could be better than catching your favorite musician or comedian performing in a historic Martha’s Vineyard church, while the salty summer air wafts through? Quite frankly, nothing. This year the Martha’s Vineyard Concert Series is bigger than ever, thanks to the addition of a three day not-to-be-missed music festival that will go down in the record books as the largest event of it’s kind on–Island to date. Billed as ‘Beach Road Weekend’ the inaugural event brings some of music’s most notable names to Vineyard Haven’s Veterans Memorial Park August 9, 10, and 11. To kick it all off on Friday, August 9, there will be a screening of the movie JAWS with the iconic score performed in sync by the Cape Symphony orchestra. That’s right, you can relive the thrilling suspense of JAWS right where the movie was originally filmed! Saturday August 10, will prove to be an action packed day with Creedence Clearwater Revival’s own John Fogerty headlining along with beloved jam band Dispatch, Alejandro Escovedo, North Mississippi Allstars and American folk-pop singer-songwriter Mason Jennings. Sunday, August 11 brings Phil Lesh & Friends, Grace Potter, Galactic, Matisyahu, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and the Original Wailers to round out the event. Tickets are on sale now at beachroadweekend.com. Even if you can only hop over for the day we recommend it! The festival will be happening a short walk from the Steamship Authority terminal in Vineyard Haven making for easy travel between the festival and Woods Hole on Cape Cod. As for the rest of the Martha’s Vineyard Concert Series there’s something exciting happening practically every week for the rest of the summer.
