This weekend in a quaint little town on martha’s vineyard, the island celebrates christmas together. The 3-day event draws people from each island town and village, as well as countless visitors from off-island who come to share in the festivities known aschristmas in edgartown. IN Its 32nd year, christmas in edgartown has long ago become a holiday tradition. THE Celebration kicks off friday, december 13, with the lighting of the edgartown lighthouse. THE Fun continues all day and into the evening on saturday with events for all ages and interests, including a late-morning parade, walking tours, face painting, holiday concerts, sing-a-longs, the ever-popular great chowder contest, sleigh rides on chappaquiddick, and the village tree lighting. SUNDAY Begins the last day of the weekend-long celebration with breakfast with santa, a community event co-sponsored by the martha’s vineyard chamber of commerce and the wharf restaurant to raise money for the jim lambert memorial scholarship fund for island students. The day continues with a scavenger hunt, an artisan showcase, nature-themed ornament making, a holiday children’s book reading, and special showings of christmas movies.
