Alcohol Served: Establishments that serve alcohol may serve only beer and wine, so you might want to check if you hope for more than that. Also note that the entire Island is dry except for Oak Bluffs and Edgartown – no alcohol is served or may be purchased in the other towns on the Island. |
BYOB: While most restaurants in the towns that do not serve alcohol do allow you to bring your own (beer, wine liquor, etc) they often charge a corkage fee. Note that you cannot bring alcohol into restaurants in Oak Bluffs and Edgartown, since they are allowed to serve it. |
No Smoking Establishment: Most inns are strict on this requirement, including disallowing smoking on the grounds, except for private clubs and designated hotels. If you are a smoker, check before arriving. |
Open Year Round: Many Island businesses are small and family run. These businesses, while “open year round” may close for a few weeks vacation during January through March. Call to check. |
