The Children's Medical Security Plan provides health insurance for primary and
preventative care for children and teenagers who do not have health care coverage.
It is a program of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Children must
be 18 years or younger, resident of Massachusetts, without private health insurance
for primary and preventive care, and not enrolled in Medicaid. To enroll in the
Children's Medical Security Plan, please call the number above. They can answer
your questions and help you complete an application.
Healthy Start Program

Healthy Start is a program of prenatal care that offers free prenatal insurance
for pregnant women information, referral, support, and advocacy to pregnant women
in Massachusetts, and may also cover the cost of obstetrical care for those women
who meet eligibility requirements. In addition to its own program of medical care
coverage, Healthy Start works collaboratively with the Division of Medical Assistance
to assist uninsured pregnant women in accessing MassHealth Prenatal. Additionally
the access unit offers the Children's Medical Security Plan that provides health
insurance to all children who do not qualify for Mass-Health or do not have other
health insurance.

The Vineyard Health Care Access Program (VHCAP) provides information, referral,
assistance and advocacy services for health care programs, providers and insurance
as well as related human services to residents of Martha's Vineyard. It is a program
of the County of Dukes County and the Dukes County Health Council. Assistance
with enrollment in programs such as MassHealth, the Children's Medical Security
Plan, and Prescription Advantage is provided. The VHCAP also provides income-eligible,
medically uninsured people with access to primary and specialty medical care through
its Reduced Fee Plan. Support and problem-solving services are available to people
with concerns related to public and private programs and services. Services available
in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
