Martha's Vineyard

Promotional Programs

The Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce owns and operates a number of important events which promote visibility of the Island, and professional growth and development. These include:

The Educational and Charitable Fund

The Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce Charitable Fund is a program within the Chamber. The Fund is charged with providing post-secondary scholarships and educational and charitable programs for the residents of Martha's Vineyard, as well as supporting scientific, educational and charitable advances on the Island. The Fund was formed in July of 1987 and so far has distributed $65,000 in scholarship funds.

The Chamber decided to establish this Fund to answer the needs of Vineyard students who are seeking to further their education but who are running into financial barriers. As both education and transportation costs have risen significantly in the past ten years, the Fund's involvement helps to ease the burden for four students each year.

Chamber Sponsored Events

Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa is our annual fundraiser for the Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce Charitable Fund, which funds our scholarship program. Most food and services are donated by Island businesses and the breakfast is staffed by volunteer cooks, servers, and Santa Claus. In addition to breakfast a child can get their picture taken with Santa. All children attending also get a gift bag.The event is well attended by members of the community and enjoyed by children of all ages.

Last Night - First Day Martha's Vineyard
Last Night - First Day Martha's Vineyard is our family-centered, alcohol-free celebration of the arts held on New Year's Eve.It is run by the Tisbury Ambulance Association with assistance from the Chamber of Commerce.

Regional and National Programs

We are continually exploring ways to help our members stabilize the seasonality of their income structure. We work with the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism and are a voting member of the Governor's Advisory Council on Tourism. Members of the Chamber staff and Board of Directors regularly attend the meetings of the M.V. Transit Authority, Dukes County Regional Housing Authority, Steamship Authority, Airport Advisory Committee, Airport Commission, the M.V. Commission's Planning and Economic Development Committee, the Southeastern Economic Development Corporation, and the Regional Employment Board of Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. We continually search for ways of helping our members make better lives for themselves and their families.

We are always looking for ways to offer more for our members and community. The MVCC is more than an ordinary Chamber of Commerce because we are more than an ordinary community. We want to work with you to improve the quality of life on Martha's Vineyard and create a healthy economic climate for Island businesses and residents.
