Traveling to Martha’s Vineyard this summer?
As one of the most popular vacation destinations on Cape Cod and the Islands, here’s a list of the best places to have lunch while on MV. Whether you’re looking for seafood, vegetarian, or just affordable – I’ve got you covered with options and ideas!
As a food writer on Martha’s Vineyard, I tend to eat out about 3-4 times a week. Finding the next best thing on this island is a fun task and one I enjoy. Since summer is about to kick off and visitors are soon to overtake the island, I wanted to put a list together of some of my favorite spots for lunch on Martha’s Vineyard. Hungry for lunch? Keep reading!
If you’re looking for some incredible fish tacos, Little House Cafe is just the spot. Granted, it’s not on the water, so you might want to save these for a rainy day, but as soon as you take a bite of these, you’ll be transported to a beach shack. The fish is crispy and delicious topped with cabbage slaw, salsa fresca, and avocado – everything you need for a perfect taco. They’re also HUGE, so make sure you come hungry!
If you’ve never considered dining at a bowling alley, The Barn in Oak Bluffs will change your mind. Martha’s Vineyard’s one and only bowling alley, it’s also the home to a delicious restaurant that serves lunch and dinner daily, with some incredible specials. My favorite items to order from their menu includes the turkey club (pictured below), the pork and lemongrass dumplings, and the vegetarian burger. A great idea for a meal when it’s a rainy day on Martha’s Vineyard and you’re looking for something affordable and fun to do with the family!
Living on an island year round makes for a lot of food cravings, mostly Asian foods. There’s no delivery on island, but the best takeout (and eat in) Asian food you can get is from Copper Wok. It’s described as “Pan Asian”, with a good variety of traditional Chinese favorites, along with Japanese sushi made fresh to order. The Chinese dishes are cooked up by a team of Chinese chefs that have decades of experience in Asian cookery, so what you’ll get will be as authentic as can be. They are also extremely accommodating to your needs, so this is not only great for date night in, but perfect to bring the entire family for a vacation celebration!
You can’t come to Martha’s Vineyard and not have seafood and what better place than Coop de Ville?! This spot is a local favorite, right on the harbor of Oak Bluffs so even if you live on island year round, you feel like you’re on vacation any time you eat here. And what’s there to eat? Well just some of the best seafood like steamers (pictured below), lobster dinners, stuffed quahogs, fried shrimp, and so much more. Plus their beer selection is quite impressive, so it’s the ideal vacation spot when you visit.
